GBA Representative Programs

Please Note: Tryout Schedule is now available...

The Goulbourn Basketball Association (GBA) provides a Representative (Rep) Program for players interested in an increased level of competitive basketball. The GBA program, with its dedicated volunteer coaches helps develop the player’s basketball and athletic skills, with the focus on developing player’s skills to allow them to compete at the “next level” of basketball.

The GBA offers teams at the following age levels for boy and girls, subject to number of players and gym and coach availability:

5 year-olds
Small Ball 6 & 7 year-olds
Novice 8 & 9 year-olds
Atom 10 & 11 year-olds
Bantam 12 & 13 year-olds
Midget 14 & 15 year-olds
Juvenile 17 – 19 year-olds

GBA Representative teams participate in games under the Eastern Ontario Basketball Association (EOBA) and in Basketball Ontario Provincial Championships.

Rep Program Principles and Guidelines

All those associated with the GBA Rep Program will be aware of and support the following principles and guidelines. We will strive to:

  • Play to win within integrity of the game – not to win at all costs

  • Create opportunities for our boys and girls to be role models in and outside of the GBA community

  • Raise better citizens (not just about the on-court game but the life-learning experiences that come with competing at a higher level)

  • Always show respect for team mates, opponents, officials and volunteers

  • Provide a safe and positive environment

  • Remove barriers to trying out and/or participating

  • Provide training and on-going support to coaches and volunteers

  • Support overall goals of the GBA, EOBA and Basketball Ontario

  • Work actively to develop linkages with local schools and universities
